INSPECTION/TESTING DETAILS
- Visual inspection of all weld joints of primary and secondary application structures.
- Ultrasonic inspection on weld joints of primary and secondary application structures.
- Magnetic particle inspection on weld joints of primary and secondary application structures.
- Pneumatic testing of water tight compartments as per ABS rules.
- Surface NDT and volumetric NDT on cantilever and sub base structures.
- Vacuum box testing of full penetration joints on weld joints of primary and secondary application structures.
- Surface NDT and volumetric NDT on leg structures and special application structures
- Surface NDT on jack house to deck connections.
- Volumetric NDT /surface NDT inside the spud can for Special /primary/secondary application structures
- UT gauging of primary parts inside the spud can
- UT gauging of leg teeth 3 bays from the bottom and areas of upper /lower guide
- General visual inspection & Operational/functional testing of machinery’s
AREAS FOR CLOSE UP SURVEY AND NDT during UWILD
As per ABS rules 2016, 7-2-5/7.7, this is an outline of some of the areas subjected to close visual and extensive NDT:
- Leg to spud can connections
- Jack house/jack case to deck connections
- Brace to chord connection in areas of leg that have been predominately in way of the upper and lower guides
- Leg to mat connections
- Suspect areas
This also includes the requirement for examination of mat or spud cans during dry- docking survey or equivalent when the UWILD is not associated with the special survey: “if there is a new indication of external damage on any can or mat, internal examinations is to be carried out to the extended recommended by the attending surveyor” as per table 1, ABS rule 2016. 7-2-6/1.5. Any other suspect area determined by the attending surveyor.
